Hello all of potential readers!
And might I say welcome! This is my first blog dedicated to the delicious, sumptuous, sexy world of food. Food is a passion of mine, and being a university student, cooking gormet is not always easy, and mostly expensive, time consuming and overall too hard of a task to attempt, especially in a house of 5.
However, after experimenting over the past year, I have come across so many recipes, websites, books and T.V shows dedicated to food, that I compiled my own recipes and tricks geared towards helping college and university students, such as myself, survive all those long months without a home cooked meal. Very few of the websites that I looked for had recipes geared specifically for students on the 20 dollar grocery budget (’cause lets face it. 20 on Groceries means more on extra curriculars :p). My recipes are simple, and inexpensive and perfect for the everyday student or working person. Being as this is my first post ever, I feel as though I owe an explaination for this rather odd behaviour.
I love food.
There is no getting around that fact. I love freshness, I love good meals, and I love experiencing the sounds and smells of a good comforting meal with friends, boyfriends and family. My mothers family is of Mediterranean decent (Also being of French Canadian decent helps balance out the carbo load with fresh shepherds pies, ci pies and poutine… yumm), and all of our gatherings involved some type of food, because as my mother says, If there isn’t food, then whats the point! Food is a celebration! And for all students, social gatherings are a place for food and drinks and fun.
This is my take. There is no greater feeling than accomplishing a recipe, and being able to share your creation with others. With this blog (as well, Im sure, as all other food blogs) I want to inspire you to get out of your meal-in-a-box attitude and try new things. Try these easy recipes, try new vegetables, or old ones in a different way!
While Im experiencing technical internet difficulties in my little Peterborough cave, Ill be compiling recipes, nutritional facts and healthy eating tips that can help even the busiest of students. This is my shout out to the world, and although I may never have a movie about blogging through Julia Child’s cookbook, Im still going to try my best! For all of you! And if my words fall on deaf internet waves, well, the world was missing out I guess haha
More to come in the coming weeks!
